Precursor
Before beginning, you must have Integration Assistant installed.
This is required for CDK to display the Transfer buttons in the DMS interface.
1. Setting up Integration Session with “File Writer”
In GM EPC, click Settings and select Integration Settings.
Click New.
Under Integration Type/Name, select File Writer from the Type drop-down.
In the Name field, enter a recognizable name such as CDK Drive.
Under Properties, choose STARDTS17 from the File Format drop-down.
Leave the File Name and File Folder fields as the default values.
Under Write, it’s recommended to keep All Parts selected.
Alternatively, you may select Selected Parts, which requires you to manually highlight parts in your picklist before sending them.
To select multiple parts, hold Ctrl on your keyboard and left-click each desired part.
For Automatically write file when parts are added to picklist:
Checked: updates the file immediately when parts are added.
Unchecked (default): updates the file only when the list is finalized.
Click Next.
2. Selecting Who the Integration Applies To
Under This integration service applies to, choose one of the following options:
Everyone in my dealership: Applies to all users (only effective if the catalog runs through GlobalConnect or a client/server setup).
Just me: Applies only to the current user and must be set up individually on each PC.
Important: If “Everyone in my dealership” is selected, any user deleting or modifying the integration will affect all users.
Click Next.
Note: Regardless of your selection, Parts Integration Assistant must be installed on each PC using this integration.
3. Completion
After completing the previous steps, a Congratulations screen will confirm success.
Click Finish.
4. Integration Setup
You’ll now see your configured integration listed under Configured Integrations.
If this is your only integration, it will automatically be set as the default.
If multiple sessions exist, highlight the preferred one and click Set Default.
Click Exit.
5. Confirm New Integration
You should now see the new integration drop-down and button on the lower left-hand side of the EPC screen.
