Overview
When using Tekion SIP, you may notice that some pricing fields do not populate unless a customer is selected. This behavior is expected and based on how Tekion handles pricing logic.
What You’re Seeing
- Price and Trade only appear after selecting a customer
- Cost and List always display, even without a customer
Why This Happens
Tekion uses two types of pricing:
1. Customer-Based Pricing (Price & Trade)
- Price and Trade depend on the selected customer
- These values are calculated using matrix pricing
- Tekion applies a multiplier based on customer type (retail, wholesale, etc.)
- The multiplier is applied to the List (MSRP) price
Key Point:
A customer must be selected before these values can be calculated.
If no customer is selected, Tekion cannot determine which pricing rules apply, so Price and Trade remain blank.
2. OEM-Based Pricing (Cost & List)
- List = Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)
- Cost = Dealer cost set by the manufacturer
These values are:
- Provided by the OEM
- Not dependent on the customer
- Always available
Key Point:
This is why Cost and List always display, even without selecting a customer.
Quick Explanation (For Reference)
“Price and Trade are customer-specific, so a customer must be selected first. Cost and List are OEM-provided values, so they are always visible.”
Summary
- Select a customer to view Price and Trade
- Cost and List will always be visible
- This is standard Tekion behavior and not an issue
